RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FUNKE AKINDELE AND FEMI ADEBAYO- what's their stand

The rumored affair between two top Nollywood stars, Femi Adebayo and Funke Akindele is now reportedly over. Both parties denied the relationship, but several news sources confirm there is something going on between the two.

Recently, Femi Adebayo was reported to have sent his wife (Khadijat) packing over issues related to infidelity. Funke, now being labeled a “Homewrecker” is doing everything to keep her image and reputation and has decided to severe any link with Femi.

... But why are they not bold enough to come out straight !!!

Lets go through some interviews they both had differently:

From: Funke Akindele

Akindele has suddenly been pushed into the front burner of public view, with several unsavoury results. Ever since she hit stardom, the hitherto unknown girl next door has lost her innocence and private life.

The most popular of such rumour is her alleged secret romance with a colleague and son of former president of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), Adebayo Salami, aka Oga Bello. Akindele, however, denied the rumour, describing it as “wicked”. Since the rumour hit town, Akindele has found it hard to extricate herself from it, as it continues to spread like brush fire. An experience she had at a popular fast food outlet in Lagos.

According to the popular actress, she was accosted by an old woman who begged her to leave the young man alone. “I remember a time, I went to Mr. Biggs, I met a woman that works there or the owner I don’t know, she just came to me, started to advise me. She told me to allow Femi and his family to live in peace”.

Excerpts:

Were you attacked by Femi Adebayo’s wife for having affair with her husband?

That is a big lie. I don’t even know how Femi’s wife looks like. I have not seen her I don’t even know her.

There was also the rumour that were pregnant.

I have heard that too. But at least you can see me. I am not wearing a maternity gown or robe. I’m getting use to them. Before now, I would cry and say what is this now, I don’t like it.

You’ve also been linked with your producer, Olasco Films, that he is your boyfriend how true is that?

We have a good working relationship together. But let me say this, I am not dating him. He is married with kids. He is a shrewd businessman who will not touch my scripts if they are not good.

You’ve really had several unpleasant experiences. Tell us about some that have stuck with you.

They are just too many. But let me tell you those I can’t just forget. There was a time I heard I was arrested and maltreated at the Heathrow airport for drug related offence. And I was not in London then I was at home, so when I saw it in paper I started shouting and crying. So I had to call my friends in the media that it’s a lie and that am ok. And you know, I hardly go out, so because of that I have to go to galleria to tell them see me I did not do it oh.

And the Femi Adebayo’s story, it was too much. It was on the internet, everywhere. There was a time I took my nephew out with my sister, to St. Nicolas hospital. I overheard two women discussing, and one of them said ‘that is the girl that gave birth to Femi’s child. That baby she is carrying is for Femi’. I had to run after her and told her please oh this is my sister’s child oh I did not have any child for Femi. My sister was like you have time, leave them, when you get married they will celebrate with you.

I also remember a time, I went to Mr. Biggs, I met a woman that works there or the owner I don’t know, she just came to me, started to advise me. She told me to let Femi and his family to live in peace, that I should not worry God will give me my own. I looked at her and said ha, thank you ma for praying for me. I have my own relationship, and am not having an affair with Femi.

This must have cost you a lot.

That was what broke the first relationship. Because he started hearing all this, he told me to stop working with Femi Adebayo. He said I should choose between him and Femi and I refused and said it is only a job that he met me doing. And that I am a professional. Because of it I stopped sleeping in the hotels while working, and told him, drop me in the morning and come pick me in the evening. He refused.

Are you not into any relationship for now?

Not that, I just started the relationship. And am in a very serious relationship and I pray it works for us.

With your experience of the former relationship, are there any condition tied to your current relationship?

No I don’t give condition. Rather I asked him, are you okay with my job, are you going to tell me tomorrow Funke quit acting. He said no.

Who is your kind of man?

My kind of man must be simple, humble, God-fearing and good looking. Am not after his money, am not so crazy about it. Because anything I get I worked for it. I don’t have that thing that men will keep giving me money every time. So am comfortable with the simple job am doing.

Tell us about the good things that have happened to you.

I have had the good side of life too. What about all the awards, accolades and commendations that I receive for doing good movies. But the one that is most memorable was when I spoke with our ex-president, General Olusegun Obasonjo. My phone rang one day, and I lady said ‘hold on for your caller’. To my surprise, it was Baba Obasanjo that spoke. He called me to congratulate me on the film Jenifa. When he called, he said ‘Jenifa how are you? Do you know who is speaking?’, then I screamed. He is not the only one, so many of them like Ita Giwa and a lot of our leaders have called to congratulate me.

What was the reaction of your parents when you decided to put your law practice on hold?

My family is in support. My dad supported it. Because he was like as far you have that law thing, you can do anything. But my mum has always being there for me supporting me. If am going for audition, she will be the one to drive me down. I love her so much.

If a script brings you and Femi together, will you be able to do it.

For now I don’t think so. Let me just stay away from him for now. Though he calls me to come and do a job with him, but I don’t want to get involved for now. I just have to. It’s too much.

There is also this rumour that your boobs are insured.

There is no part of my body that is insured. None oh, except that of the life insurance, which I have.

You have paid the price for fame and everything. What is your advice for young and up-coming artist?

Well, my advice to them is to use what you have to get what you want. Not your body oh. If you know you can act, come in and get audition and be consistent, don’t be discouraged by people that want to pull you down. Telling you, you are not pretty, you are this you are that you know. So believe you can do it and with God by your side you shall get there. And other people out there including the boys, always be yourself.

There are stories about producers asking for sex to give girls roles. Have you ever had any such experience since you started?

No, the producers don’t even like me. I am always giving them my attitude, and I hardly say thank you to any of them. Rather I’d say it to God. Nobody made me, I play my role myself. From my first movie, I have always produced my jobs myself.

Did you ever contemplate quitting when those rumours were rife?

No. I told you this is my first love. I love acting right from when I was small. So, I won’t quit making somebody somewhere happy.

From: Femi Adebayo

Femi Adebayo is a familiar name in Nollywood particularly for yoruba movie lovers. Besides being the son of veteran actor, Adebayo Salami aka Oga Bello, Femi has made a name for himself and continues to excel professionally. Last year, the lawyer turned actor was rumored to have sent his wife packing from their matrimonial home. The same tabloids reported he was in a relationship with fellow Nollywood star Funke Akindele. Both have continued to deny any rumors of an affair. In the interview with the SUN, he address the rumors and talks about recent projects in the works.

Excerpts from the interview:

Last year, it was all town that you had problems with your wife . Can you shed more light on that?
It’s so unfortunate that people don’t verify what they read. There are bound to be issues between husband and wife which usually can be settled amicably but as at the time this rumour was circulating, we had no problems. My wife is hale and hearty in my house and she is taking care of our kids . When you are rising and you are in the lime light, the press will write something about you and make some money without even verifying it.

I must admit that City People published a false story about my wife, myself and some other people. For some time now, they have been writing all these things and I have been keeping quite but it actually gets to me. Eventually, I had to write them and ask why they wrote such a story because it puts my reputation in jeopardy. They wrote a rejoinder saying they were sorry that they thought this and that. How could they think and not verify?

There was an instance they said your wife was caught cheating and there was another instance they said Funke Akindele caused a rift between the two of you. How true is all these?

Honestly , if you have been following these stories you would discover they’re contradictory. I have always made it known to my fans that there was nothing like that. Infact, at a point I was forced to bring my wife to tell them that we had no problems and she did.

Sincerely, instead of all these pulling my career down it has been pushing it up . I appreciate my fans , because they have been with me all through these. Honestly, the last story really got to me and I’m not very comfortable with their rejoinder because it was featured inside the magazine and not on the cover like they did in publishing the falsehood. I would be taking that up. You see, there is nothing wrong in asking for my own side of the story before going to press.

What’s your relationship with Funke Akindele?

I have answered this same question many times and I will keep answering it if need be. It’s very straight and simple. Funke Akindele is a colleague and we work together and probably because she is a lawyer too we get on so well. Maybe it’s because we worked together in Taiwo-Taiwo which was a blockbuster. Many people really loved the movie because we played our roles very well. The rumours started after Taiwo-Taiwo .I have really been linked up with so many actresses, like Laide Bakare, Kehinde Salami and even Fathia Balogun. I just think the moment we play husband and wife the rumour mill begins to bubble.

There you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth.
