Nigeria's Karen And Zimbabwe's Wendall Win Big Brother Amplified

After 91 days of intense drama, mind blowing conversations and don’t forget the shower scenes, Karen and Wendall have come out tops as show host IK announced, both contestants as joint winners of this year’s big prize. Karen came led with six country votes followed by Wendall with four. Luclay trailed with two votes.

The grand finale was quite intriguing to watch as the tense atmosphere in the Big Brother Amplified house diffused the TV sets into the hearts of millions of viewers across Africa. Performing artistes Wizkid, Mo’Cheddah, Fally Ipupa and Cpwaa lit up the stage as they rendered their popular hits songs.

Nigeria’s Vina was the first of the seven finalists to get evicted. She collapsed as she saw her family on stage. Next to follow was Ethiopia’s Hanni who burst into tears as her name was called out.

The finalists, reduced to five were called on stage to talk about their favourite memories during their stay in the house. ‘My strategy was to have no strategy‘, Lomwe said. Karen grabbed the mic and jokingly said ‘IK wins!‘. The five finalists were finally trimmed to three as Ugandan Sharon O and Malawian Lomwe were evicted.

It got tenser as Nigeria’s Karen, South Africa’s Luclay and Zimbabwe’s Wendall were left standing, hearts in their mouth. The atmosphere was too tensed to watch! Then host IK called Luclay on stage and announced him as the second runner-up, automatically making Karen and Wendall winners!

27-year-old Karen and 23-year-old Wendall have won for themselves $200,000 each. And Karen’s win makes it a hat trick for Nigeria. Nigerian contestants Kevin Pam and Uti Nwachukwu won the competition in 2009 and 2010 respectively.
