To kick off the Theatre on the Mainland series, PAWS (Performing Arts Workshop and Studio) in collaboration with The Knot Centre presents 'The Wives', a stage play written by Professor Ahmed Yerima.
In The Wives, Yerima's two plots craftily dissolve into one with lessons for everyone to learn. Are most men and husbands two faced and hypocritical?
The question of 'can a man keep his most cherished secrets forever?' is the central theme of the play. There lies a sordid little secret and no one wants to talk about it. 'The Wives' is a dark comedy rich in sensuality and scathing humour.
The stage play is starring Kate Henshaw-Nuttall, Carol King, Catherine Edoho, Kemi 'lala' Akindoju, Sola Roberts, Rotimi Fakunle, Gbenga Adekanmbi and a host of other well known actors. The play is directed by a brilliant director Kenneth Uphopho, the former secretary general of the Dance Guild of Nigeria, Lagos Chapter.
'The Wives' will show on Sunday 10 July 2010 by 3pm and 6pm, at The Knot Centre, 1 Tobi Lawal Road by Yaba Tech 2nd gate off Herbert Macauley Way. Tickets go for N3000. For students with ID cards, they go for N2000.
"We are excited about this play, especially the fact that we are able to Gather this galaxy of stars to the mainland," says Kenneth Uphopho who founded PAWS. "These are true professionals and the audience is going to leave the play thoroughly entertained."
