Nigerian writer and Novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie will feature in this year’sNigerian Breweries sponsored Creative Writing Workshop.
Hosting for the third consecutive time, Chimamanda will be joined by celebrated author Tash Aw and Commonwealth Writers Prize winner Faith Adiele as well as Kenyan writer Binyavanga Wainaina
According to Farafina Trust – organizers of the workshop, the ten day workshop seeks to ‘promote creative writing in the country, improve the craft of Nigerian writers and to encourage published and unpublished writers.
Already, 20 applicants have been handpicked from a list of a thousand entries in 2011. The participants are drawn from across the country. Two others would be coming in from Botswana, while one each would join the team from New York and the UK.
The Participants will be assigned a wide range reading and daily writing exercises, which will hopefully get to improve their writing by bringing different perspectives to the art of storytelling.
The workshop will take place from Thursday, June 23 2011 to Saturday, July 2, 2011.
Tash Aw the celebrated author of ‘The Harmony Silk Factory’ and Faith Adiele is a Commonwealth Writers Prize winner for ‘Best First Novel’.
