
In celebration the forthcoming Children’s Day 2011, American cable television network Nickelodeon and Silverbird Television have collaborated to present the kiddies project ‘Why The World Needs Kids’.
Nickelodeon (a subsidiary of MTV Networks) and STV today Monday, May 16, 2011 kicked off the campaign to display young and bright ideas from children between the ages of 2 and 15. According to a statement issued today, Nickelodeon and STV will ‘dig into the minds of the kids and explore their creative and imaginative sides as they submit their inventive ideas in the form of original drawings, stories or poems’.
‘Nickelodeon knows that kids see the world differently to adults and often come up with intriguing, creative and refreshing solutions to challenges. We are confident that we will receive a thought-provoking and fun response to this competition’, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, MTV Networks Africa, Alex Okosi says.
Apart from the goodie bags Nickelodeon will give out to several kids, those with the winning entries will appear in Nickelodeon commercials on Wednesday, July 20,2011 on STV. In addition, a few of the clips taken will be uploaded unto the Nickelodeon website.
‘Silverbird Television is committed to provide quality family and children entertainment programmes that are wholesome and educational as well giving children the opportunity to enter the competition’, Group Vice President, Silverbird Group, Guy Murray-Bruce explains.
The group is divided in to four age groups: 2-6 yrs old, 7-9 yrs old, 10-12 yrs old, 13-15 yrs old and will have two winners for each group. Entries are open now onwww.nickelodeonafrica.com and will close on Wednesday, June 15, 2011.
